"what does it taste like?"

An overreaching question we ask ourselves when assessing scent. The rarity, nuance, and of course historic precedence of various scent compounds often beg for them to be tasted, but unfortunately, that's just not always safe.

On the other hand, nature, who is at the core of what we do, may provide a safe, edible insight into what some of these scent compounds may taste like. She does this by putting them at center stage in one of her shows, and letting them shine as a soloist or show how they shape and combine with other flavor compounds in an ensemble cast. It's no secret that many of the compounds in the basic and advanced kits play a role in flavor as much as they do in scent.

The "Creator" kit reaches across nations and time to include 12 rare spices from around the globe, unadulterated and in their natural form. Each component of the kit is very different and often correlating to a compound within the main kits or closely-related compounds. A series of not so common chances to experience the remarkable impact of flavor compounds sometimes better known for their scent such as: B-Myrcene, Sabinene, and Cineole, and when combined with the base kits give insight into compositions like "true vanilla" vs. Vanillin crystals alone, Sotolone ( featured in the EU kit ) vs. Maple, Cinnamaldhyde in true Cinnamon vs. Cassia, the evolving concept of "root beer", and more. The kit also contains four numbered compounds, relating to spices found within the kit and often with a relationship to other components of the base kits.

As a special bonus, we're including a dried black lime to give you one more citrus plot twist, asafoetida to explore less common sulfuric flavorings, and sarsaparilla to compare to sassafras. There might be a few more aromatic surprises in the box too, you never know!

Sourcing notes: All spices and flavorings in this kit are wildcrafted or organic when possible, all from ethical sources, and personally tested for quality by tasters experienced with the spices and flavorings. Most are direct from the producer, and if we didn't feel comfortable with how our questions were answered, we simply found someone else.

PSC Notes ( Crybaby ): We are so glad to introduce more opportunities to taste some of the most valued compounds of this era and eras prior. This is a great way to expand your scent and flavor vocabulary, as well as simply get to experience some things that may be new to you. While this expansion is approachable without any other kits, you can certainly get a bit more from it with prior experience. There is an accompanying PDF with the kit that will help you make the right comparisons.
